Add a Webhook node
In an n8n workflow, add Webhook, set its method to POST, and configure Header auth. Use a secret header, for example
X-Backup-Token, with a randomly generated value managed in n8n’s credentials. Configure it to respond Immediately so the sender doesn’t wait for the rest of the workflow.2
Choose the production URL
Publish the workflow and copy its Production URL. Use HTTPS. The Test URL listens only when you explicitly start a test in n8n, so it is unsuitable for unattended backup notifications.
3
Configure 3to1go
In Integrations, select JSON event, paste the URL, and supply headers such as
{"X-Backup-Token":"YOUR_RANDOM_TOKEN"}. Select your events, save, and click Test saved destination.4
Route the event
Check n8n’s Executions history. Use an IF or Switch node to inspect
$json.body.event, $json.body.status, or $json.body.job_name, then connect the appropriate action nodes. The test event has event: "test"; give it a test branch or ignore it in production actions.unusual-backup, unusual-upload, and job-finished with a status that needs attention. Scout’s common statuses are listed in the hook guide. Station reports ok or error for upload-received.
An immediate 2xx response confirms acceptance by n8n, not successful completion of every downstream node. Use n8n’s own execution and error handling for subsequent failures. 3to1go does not replay failed or lost notifications.
Consult n8n’s official Webhook node guide and Webhook credentials guide for URL lifecycle, authentication, and response settings. The HTTP guide documents the exact payload.
